Why "sight unseen" is a dealbreaker - and how we fixed it
Most custom manufacturing works on faith: you describe what you want, pay upfront, and hope the thing that arrives matches the picture in your head. If it does not, you are stuck negotiating revisions or refunds after your money is already gone.
At My Studio Art the order is reversed. You see the exact 3D model first, then decide whether to buy it. The preview is not a sketch, a mockup, or an artist's rendering - it is the same geometry file that goes to the printer if you order.
How the free preview works
- Describe it or show it. Type what you want in plain English, or upload a photo of the object, pet, or person you want turned into a print.
- AI builds the model. Generation takes 30 to 60 seconds. No signup and no payment details are required to generate.
- Inspect it in 3D. A live rotating preview loads right in the browser. Drag to spin it, look at it from every angle, check the details that matter to you.
- Pick color and size. Choose from 16 PLA colors or 4 tough PETG colors and set the size in whole inches from 2 to 8. The preview shows your chosen color.
- Pay only if you love it. Checkout is the first and only moment money enters the picture.
Not right? Regenerate - it costs nothing
First results are often great, but not always exactly what you pictured. That is fine: tweak the prompt and generate again. Add detail ("thicker base", "sitting instead of standing", "more angular"), swap the photo for a clearer one, or try a completely different angle on the idea. Every attempt is free, and none of them commits you to anything.
And if nothing lands? Close the tab. You owe nothing for previews, ever. The worst-case outcome of trying is spending a minute of your time.
What exactly are you approving?
When you check out, you are approving three concrete things:
- The geometry. The exact 3D model you spun in the preview is the file that gets printed. Nothing is re-sculpted or reinterpreted after you pay.
- The color. The single solid color you selected, shown on the preview model itself.
- The size. The model is scaled to your chosen size in whole inches, from 2 to 8.

Honesty matters more than a sale, so here is exactly how the physical piece differs from the on-screen model:
- One solid color. Each piece prints in a single color - the one you chose in the preview. There is no painting or multi-color printing.
- Fine layer lines. FDM printing builds the piece in 0.20 mm layers. Up close you will see fine horizontal lines, the signature of a real 3D print.
- Matte, sculptural finish. The surface reads as a clean, modern art object rather than glossy injection-molded plastic.
- Very thin features may be thickened. Spikes, strands, whiskers, and other extremely thin elements may be slightly thickened during the printability review so they survive shipping and handling.
The shape, proportions, pose, and character of the preview carry through exactly. What changes is texture: pixels become layered plastic you can hold.
What happens after checkout
Once you order, your model goes through a printability review - wall thickness, thin features, and the most stable print orientation - then prints on a calibrated FDM printer at 0.20 mm layers. Every piece is hand-inspected before packing. Orders ship within 1-2 business days and are delivered in 5-7 days with tracking, printed in the USA. Pricing is by size with shipping included: $18 for Tiny (2-3"), $35 for Small (4"), $70 for Medium (5-7"), and $150 for Large (8") in PLA, or $25/$48/$100/$200 in tough PETG.
The safety net if something still goes wrong
The preview kills most ordering risk, but physical goods can still have a bad day in transit. So there is a backstop: print defects and shipping damage are covered by a reprint guarantee. If a reprint is not possible, you get a full refund to your original payment method, and refunds land within 5-10 business days. The details are in our refund policy.
Ready to see yours?
The fastest way to answer "will I like it?" is to look at it. Open the studio, type your idea or upload a photo, and judge the actual 3D model with your own eyes in under a minute. If it is not right, regenerate. If it is, order it and hold it in about a week.
