A photo lives on a screen. A figurine sits on your desk, your shelf, or your nightstand. For pet owners that difference matters, which is why custom 3D printed figurines of dogs and cats have become one of the most requested things we make.

At My Studio Art the process is simple: upload a clear photo of your pet, the AI reconstructs it as a 3D model, you preview it rotating in your browser, then pick a size and color and we print and ship it. You only pay once you have seen the model and you like it.

What photo of your pet works best

Animals are harder for AI than rigid objects because of fur, motion, and tails. After thousands of generations, these are the photos that consistently produce the cleanest pet figurines:

Pose and framing

• Side-on or three-quarter view. A profile or slight angle shows the AI the most of your pet's body shape. Straight-on face shots lose the body.
• Whole animal in frame. Head to paws to tail, nothing cropped. The model needs the full silhouette to compute proportions.
• Calm, settled pose. A dog standing or sitting still reconstructs far better than one mid-jump or mid-zoomie.

Lighting and background

• Bright, even daylight. Near a window or outdoors in shade. Avoid harsh sun and deep shadows.
• Plain background. Grass, a wall, or a plain floor. A busy couch pattern behind a similarly colored pet confuses the AI.
• One animal only. Crop out other pets and people before uploading so depth estimation has a single subject.

What is harder to capture

• Very long or fluffy fur. Strands too thin to print fuse into a smooth mass. The shape stays right; individual hairs do not.
• Dark black pets in low light. A black cat in shadow gives the AI almost no surface detail to read. Brighten the shot.
• Thin tails and ears. These print fine but may be slightly thickened for durability.

Dogs, cats, and everything else

The same pipeline works for any animal you have a photo of. Common requests include:

• Dogs: from a French Bulldog desk buddy to a Golden Retriever display piece. Breed shape, ear set, and coat pattern all carry through.
• Cats: sitting loaf poses and classic standing profiles both work well.
• Small pets: rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and reptiles all reconstruct cleanly because of their compact shapes.
• Horses and farm animals: great as larger display figures at the 5 to 8 inch sizes.

Capture the pose that is pure them

The best pet figurines are not just accurate, they are them. The head tilt that means "treat?", the full-loaf cat on the windowsill, the goofy mid-zoomie grin with ears up and tongue out. Pick a photo that shows the pose or expression you would recognize from across the room, and the AI carries that personality straight into the model. The more "so them" the photo, the more the figurine makes everyone who sees it grin.

Sizes, colors, and materials

Pricing is by size tier, not by complexity, so a detailed pet costs the same as a simple one:

• Tiny (2-3 inches): $18 - desk figure, keepsake, ornament
• Small (4 inches): $35 - shelf figurine, gift size
• Medium (5-7 inches): $70 - most popular, a real presence on a shelf
• Large (8 inches): $150 - statement display piece

Every figure prints in durable PLA in your choice of 16 colors, with a tougher PETG option in 4 colors for figures that will be handled often. A single solid color reads as a clean, sculptural keepsake. Shipping is included in every price.

From preview to your shelf

After checkout, every model goes through a printability review - wall thickness, thin ears and tails, and the most stable print orientation - then prints on a calibrated FDM printer at 0.20 mm layers. Every figurine is hand-inspected before it is packed in a padded mailer and shipped with tracking. Most orders arrive within 5 to 7 days.
